How H.G. Wells’ World Became Real: Photos

Discovery News - H.G. Wells turns 145 years old today. And even though the man himself has been dead since 1946, many of the ideas put forward in his fiction are still cutting edge.

One of the acclaimed fathers of science fiction, Wells isn’t around to see the future he envisioned in his fiction. However, Wells’ insights into an age influenced by increasing leaps in human understanding of science and application of technology remain relevant today.

Of course, not everything in his fiction will happen or even could happen. Humans have yet to make contact with aliens, let alone go to war with them. And time travel, after all, is impossible.

(He wasn’t a prophet after all; he was an author).
