The Road to E3 2013 - A look at the games IGN is most excited to hear about at this year's show

IGN - E3 2013 is almost here, and with it comes an entirely new generation of consoles, games - and much, much more. But of everything we think and know is coming, what has us excited? Though publishers and developers are still working on confirming and discussing what will be coming to E3 2013, in the IGN offices we're still chatting about what we hope we'll see and play from June 11 to June 13.

Just to be clear, we don't entirely know every single game that we're going to discuss will definitely be at the show. Some of them will. Some won't. Some games that ought to have a presence won't make it. Regardless, we're hopeful we see all of this and plenty more that we don't expect.

Are you ready to take a tour through the madness that is E3 2013? Join us as we walk through 30 of the biggest games we want to see at E3 - two per day over the span of 15 days. And tune in as our coverage fires up on June 10 - and perhaps even in these final days and weeks leading up to the event.

LAST UPDATED: Wednesday - May 29, 2013

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: Quantic Dream
Platforms: PlayStation 3
Release Date: October 8, 2013

Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls excites me so much because it promises to tackle themes that other games won’t, or can’t. We already know that Jodie Holmes’ life-spanning story arc covers periods of homelessness and helplessness, culminating in a suicide attempt. Love, loss, family... these are easy ideas to sketch down on paper, but Beyond: Two Souls seems to make a much more earnest attempt at actually portraying them effectively than most video games.

I have my doubts about Beyond’s ability to straddle these and other all-too-real examples of human drama with more outlandish elements like CIA training and angry ghosts. But in Quantic Dream and heavy-hitting actors Ellen Page and William Dafoe I trust. I hope a strong E3 showing will put my fears at ease and prepare me for ambitious, emotional storytelling.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Review in Progress

Impressions of Blizzard’s latest expansion as we play for review.

IGN - Editor's Note: The most recent impressions will always be posted at the end of the article.

If you're a PC gamer, it’s likely the mention of World of Warcraft affects you in some way. Maybe it triggers pangs of regret over dumping years of your life into Blizzard’s virtual theme park, rosy nostalgia of the vanilla days, earnest anticipation of what’s coming next or a confusing mix of them all. With this fourth expansion, released in a climate of dipping subscriber numbers, Blizzard seems to be building out the end game, adding in many dungeons and long-form progression tracks to keep players busy well beyond launch.

If you still play regularly, maybe you checked out a lot of Mists’ content in beta testing earlier this year, and have been eagerly waiting for launch. Or maybe you’re one of the many who left World of Warcraft behind some at some point during its nearly eight year run, and were waiting for this expansion to log back in.

If you’re part of the latter crowd, expect a longer than usual readjustment period after logging back in. Blizzard recently patched in a significant change to its talent system, getting rid of the old talent trees entirely. In place of the old trees, every fifteen levels you’ll get a choice of one of three new talents, a system where there isn’t necessarily one single best choice.

Take my 85 Paladin, for example. The level 15 tier of talents includes Speed of Light, which boosts move speed by 70 percent for eight seconds, Long Arm of the Law, which spikes move speed up 45 percent for three seconds after a Judgment, and Justice, which gives me an always active 15 percent movement speed bonus with additional percentage bonuses for stored charges of Holy Power. I’ve so far been using Speed of Light to help get away from attacking Horde after stunning them with Fist of Justice (another talent, essentially Hammer of Justice with a halved cooldown), but can see where the other choices would be useful.

Many of the old talent tree abilities you may have been used to have been rolled into class specializations, where you're given different abilities depending on which role you choose for a class.

In addition, the Glyph system was adjusted. Prime Glyphs are no longer in the game, so expect to spend a little more time figuring all that out before getting into the rhythm of leveling and dungeon running again.

The Top 25 PlayStation 3 Games

IGN - Each and every year, IGN sits down and hashes out the 25 PlayStation 3 games you have to play, and 2012 is no different. Below, you'll find the 25 PS3 games IGN's PlayStation Team -- IGN Loudmouth Greg Miller and He Only Does Everything Colin Moriarty --personally think are the games every PlayStation owner needs to play.

And remember, PlayStation Network Games have their own top 25 list, so look for that update soon.

Spec Ops’ bro shooter-like name does the game no justice at all, because behind its generic title rests one of the most disturbing, story-driven shooters of the entire generation. Set in a future version of Dubai obliterated by rampant sandstorms, Spec Ops: The Line puts you in the role of Captain Martin Walker. Traveling with two other soldiers that you control only cursorily, Walker and his crew are charged with investigating reports of survivors left stranded in the desolated city. But as you find out, not all is as it seems in Dubai -- or with Captain Walker himself -- flipping the script on players as they realize that they’re in for a ride they never wanted to witness in the first place.

There are few franchises more synonymous with the PlayStation brand than Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank series. The most recent entry into the saga on PlayStation 3 was A Crack in Time, a great game that not only takes full advantage of PS3's tech, but keeps the series' beloved characters, humor and weapons intact as well. A Crack in Time is a standout action-platformer that's both challenging and accessible, one of the hallmarks of Ratchet & Clank since the PlayStation 2 days and the singular reason why Ratchet & Clank games have such broad appeal.

Dead Space 2 takes everything that was awesome about the original Dead Space -- the tight corridors, the horrible monsters, the weapons -- and amplifies it. But that isn't what makes Dead Space 2 so good. It's the internal struggle of protagonist Isaac Clarke. Whereas Nathan Drake can wipe out 3,000 pirates and crack off a one-liner in the next game, Isaac begins the game wrecked. The horrors he saw in Dead Space have broken him, and while the sequel is all about dismembering monsters, it's also about piecing this guy's mind back together. Heavy stuff for a game that tries to scare you with spider-aliens exploding from a fat guy's gut.

You could make the case for Valkyria Chronicles being hard to describe -- it's a turn-based strategy role-playing game mixed with anime and some third-person shooter mechanics -- but we think that's a cop out. Call it "great" and move on. Lead your troops through an alternate 1930s Europe, fight for freedom, and build your squad as you see fit. Beautiful art and award-winning gameplay combine for something every PS3 player should try. Now, SEGA, patch it with Trophies.

Original superheroes in games don't happen all that often, so when developer Sucker Punch (makers of the first three Sly Cooper games) announced Infamous, comic nerds held their breath. Luckily, everything worked out. In Infamous, players take on the role of Cole MacGrath. An explosion turned Empire City into a walled city of super-powered people, and Cole has to decide if he wants to use his electricity-based powers fight the good fight or rule the playground. A sandbox game, Infamous gives you your powers, some cool comic cutscenes and turns you loose.
