'Star Trek Into Darkness' - Trailer & Pics

The Hobbit 3 Officially Announced
IGN - So it looks like the rumours and speculation were true, and there will be a third Hobbit movie. Check out Peter Jackson’s official statement, which just hit facebook.
It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made. Recently Fran, Phil and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie - and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘yes.'
We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance. The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth.

ubergizmo - Good news to all Batman fans out there! Gameloft has just announced its tie-in game for the The Dark Knight Rises movie that is set to launch on theaters beginning July 20. The video game developer recently released a teaser for the game with the same name, as you see in the video above.
“Why do we fall?” That was a question young Bruce Wayne was asked in Batman Begins and it’s one that's just as important in The Dark Knight Rises, the final installment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman saga. Borrowing a page from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, the film finds an older Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) who has hung up his (gas-powered grappling) guns and retreated into Wayne Manor, now a recluse who needs a cane due to all his injuries sustained as Batman. Bruce hasn’t donned the cape and cowl in the eight years since Harvey Dent died and he took the fall for his crimes.
Now two people will draw Batman out of his self-imposed retirement: cat burglar Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy), a masked terrorist with a brutal plan for punishing Gotham City. Trapping the people of Gotham within their own borders, it’s up to the newly returned Batman and the GCPD -- specifically Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) and Officer John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – to save them from Bane and his army. San Diego Comic-Con 2012: A User’s Guide
San Diego Comic-Con is a fun destination for fanboys and fangirls, but it is also big business for Hollywood. Studios now use Comic-Con to unveil and promote the latest tentpole blockbusters, whether the films are based on comic books or not. Filmmakers at the event will be fighting to build buzz for their projects with trailers, trailers for trailers, early footage and panel discussions. What Ever Happened to Quicksand?
Slate - The fourth-graders were unanimous: Quicksand doesn’t scare them, not one bit. If you’re a 9- or 10-year-old at the P.S. 29 elementary school in Brooklyn, N.Y., you’ve got more pressing concerns: Dragons. Monsters. Big waves at the beach that might separate a girl from her mother. Thirty years ago, quicksand might have sprung up at recess, in pools of discolored asphalt or the dusty corners of the sandbox—step in the wrong place, and you’d die. But not anymore, a boy named Zayd tells me. “I think people used to be afraid of it,” he says. His classmates nod. “It was before we were born,” explains Owen. “Maybe it will come back one day.”
For now, quicksand has all but evaporated from American entertainment—rejected even by the genre directors who once found it indispensable. There isn’t any in this summer’s fantasy blockbuster Prince of Persia: Sands of Time or in last year’s animated jungle romp Up. You won’t find quicksand in The Last Airbender or Avatar, either. Giant scorpions emerge from the sand in Clash of the Titans, but no one gets sucked under. And what about Lost—a tropical-island adventure series replete with mud ponds and dangling vines? That show, which ended in May, spanned six seasons and roughly 85 hours of television airtime—all without a single step into quicksand. “We were a little bit concerned that it would just be cheesy,” says the show’s Emmy-winning writer and executive producer, Carlton Cuse. “It felt too clichéd. It felt old-fashioned.” More

Revamped Android Market for Mobile Adds Movies, E-Books
PC World.Com - Google on Tuesday unveiled a revamped Android Market for mobile that includes movie rentals and e-books in the U.S., as well as a more streamlined interface.In the U.S., users can rent movies starting at $1.99 directly from the Android Market via a new Videos app.
"With the Videos app, available in Android Market, there's no more waiting for downloads, syncing, or worrying about storage space," Google said in a blog post.
"Simply sign into Android Market with your Google account, and you can rent movies from anywhere—the web, or your Android phone or tablet—and start watching instantly."
You can also download the movies for offline viewing. More
